Chris Southan recently wrote about some of the untapped potential for the patent literature in drug discovery <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bio-itworld.com\/2017\/04\/06\/from-black-hole-data-big-bang-open-patent-chemistry-pips-20-million-structures.aspx\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop will cover the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"Abstract\">\n<li>Outline the statistics of patent chemistry in various open sources<\/li>\n<li>Introduce a spectrum of open resources and tools<\/li>\n<li>Enable a deeper understanding of target identification, bioactivity and SAR extraction from patents and also papers<\/li>\n<li>Show ways to engage with medicinal chemistry patent mining<\/li>\n<li>Include hands-on exercises<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The workshop is scheduled for Tuesday 23rd May and <del datetime=\"2017-04-20T13:53:09+00:00\">the deadline for signups is the 14th of April<\/del> registration is still open.
